Koopalings are the figurative and literal spawn of Satan in the Super Mario series. There are currently about 1713350403 of them, as Bowser does not have easy access to birth control.
In Super Mario Sunshine, Bowser Jr. revealed Princess Peach of the Mushroom Kingdom to be the mother of the Koopalings. Bowser would later lie that this was untrue as a thinly-veiled cover-up. Junior went along with the lie so that he wouldn't make himself look like an idiot. It is hard to blame Bowser for this fib, as otherwise, Bowser Jr. wouldn't have stopped bringing up his father's… "private life"… in public.
